Lunchroom Parent Volunteer Program

This is a new program organized by the PTA and run by teachers in the lunchroom. The goal of the program is to help provide students with a relaxed and enjoyable experience at lunch time. Volunteers may work as often as they'd like...one lunch period per day, one per week or just once per school year. While we are eager for parents who can help out at lunch on a regular basis, we also want to encourage those who can work just once or twice a year to participate in this program. Every lunch time volunteer makes a difference.

The program aims to have two parent monitors for each lunch section. Lunch is scheduled from 11:10am to 12:10pm and 12:15pm to 1:15pm. Each lunch period has two sections. For example, during K, 1st and 2nd grade lunch, K children play outside first and then eat lunch while 1st and 2nd graders eat first and go outside afterwards. The volunteer stays with the classes they are assigned to in the lunchroom and follow them outside (or visa versa). The parent would act as a monitor and liaison to the teacher in charge. A short orientation is required for parents interested in this volunteer position to give an overview of school and lunchroom rules and regulations, and how to address various behavior and interactions with the kids.
